CAP —  Community Arts Partnerships

Exhibit Design

The Community Arts Partnerships is an arts and youth development program for kids and teens throughout Detroit communities, facilitated by the College For Creative Studies. CAPs twenty year anniversary took place in the Fall of 2020, and a special exhibit was developed to showcase the program's history and highlights, as well as student artwork. I had the opportunity to be a part of the design team that developed the exhibit. The design team consisted of two graphic designers and two interior designers, with an instructor from each program acting similar to a creative director.

Sharing responsibility in developing the project from concept to final design was a very beneficial experience. Additionally, the project provided the opportunity  to collaborate and learn from the interior designers.  One of the most significant take-aways I have from this project was having the opportunity to design as well and build the structural assets in the exhibit. While exciting to see 2D designs come to life, it gave me a better perspective of how design on a screen translates into tangible items.
