Objective
Develop a design system that organizes and communicates large quantities of content, while also being more accessible
to a broader audience.
Overview
The Endurance Running Hypothesis was unique because it is grounded in a topic I am very interested in, and its requirement
to evolve in order to meet changing COVID protocols.
Given my interest in endurance activities, I wanted to explore the origins of human endurance and present that information back to my audience. Prehistoric humans and present day technology provided a great juxtaposition and opportunity
to play with visual directions and language for this design system. Visual elements and devices ultimately influenced from textbook imagery, data, charts and other forms of data. Initially, the solution to the project was to be an exhibit of hanging banners depicting my research.
In the end, the design deliverables included an interactive kiosk that could exist at a sports expo or convention, along with a mobile app solution. Given the quantity of content, the change to the app would also allow for the content to be accessible
at the viewers convenience. The final deliverables became a system where the user could interact with content on a large touch screen as well as more in-depth content through mobile
application access.
My biggest take-away was learning to adapt to unforeseen variables and meet those changes with appropriate design solutions. The change I experienced allowed me to become familiar with Adobe XD, for prototyping the mobile app, giving me clarity of the softwares capabilities.
