Objective

Select a Michigan based event and develop a poster that showcases updated branding and communicates event details.

Overview

Drawin from my interest in endurance activities, I chose the Swim To The Moon event, hosted by the organization Epic Races. This event is an open-water swimming race with distances ranging from .5 miles to 10 kilometers. The summer prior to this project, I participated in the sprint triathlon the organization puts on  and had familiarity with the swim event.

The name of the event conjures up images of space, while the reality is it is actually named after the lake swimmers participate in. This still served as a catalyst to develop a concept of swimming in outer space, which guided the visual direction and my design.

The outcome of this project lead to a clearer understanding and implementation of the branding design process. Also, after coming across this design solution, I was contacted by the Ann Arbor Tri Club organization with the opportunity to create new branding for their summer triathlon in Ann Arbor, MI.
